Reviews

This was a unique experience. Derek, our tour guide, is a very talented storyteller who, while giving us nuggets of fascinating history, also opened our eyes to a whole other aspect of city life through his personal stories of life on the streets. I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to locals and visitors.

Fantastic tour off the beaten track !
Just what I love in a tour: off the beaten track, mix of history, social issues, and personal experience ! Derek was just great. The exchange in this tour is also a great reminder that homelessness can happen to anyone of us. I highly recommend it for both tourists and people who have been here for years like me.

Fantastic idea! A communitarian look at the oldest part of Dublin through the eyes of someone who both worked with the homeless and has been homeless himself...Our guide is humble, erudite and gives us a wonderful insight into the philanthropy of the Guinness family, the great fire of Dublin, even the origins of the Legion of Mary, proving The Liberties area breathes history.
Derek’s attention to detail, his facts and figures, anecdotes and personal stories of the area he grew up in weave together a priceless oral history of a fascinating part of Dublin.
